UPDATE: The female patient who suffered severe burns in this fire was pronounced deceased in the hospital on the afternoon of January 7, 2022. Her age was 79, not 70, as previously noted.
Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded for a residential structure fire in the 700 block of Sebring Avenue that began around 2 a.m.
Firefighters located a 79-year-old female who was transported to the hospital by medics in critical condition with burn injuries. A 50-year-old male resident is being treated for multiple burns. He is listed in critical, but stable condition. A female police officer was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. There were no reported injuries to firefighters.
The occupants of houses on either side were evacuated as a precaution.
Detectives from the Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the exact cause of the fire.
