Police in Zone 2 responded to the 2400 block of Bedford Avenue around 5:45 a.m. after a caller reported a male was threatening a female with a firearm while children were in the home.
When officers arrived, the male fled into a nearby building, and then escaped out a window before running into the wood line that leads to Bigelow Blvd.
Responding officers recovered a firearm on scene, established a perimeter and a full-duty SWAT callout was made due to the size and scope of the incident.
SWAT and K9 officers used technology and mutal aid assistance including a drone from the Allegheny County Sheriff's Office to search for the suspect, but he was not located.
Bigelow Blvd. was closed from Crosstown Blvd. to Herron Avenue during the search. It was reopened around 8:30 a.m.
A warrant will be filed for multiple charges, and the investigation is ongoing.
