Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were alerted to several ShotSpotter alerts for the 400 block of S. Atlantic Avenue just after 9:15 p.m.
When they arrived on scene they found a grey Toyota Camry that was running and unoccupied with the doors open.
Shortly after, they received a 9-1-1 call from the three occupants of the Camry who returned to the scene to speak with police. They told officers they were traveling behind a Jeep when two unknown males wearing masks began shooting toward their vehicle when they observed them. The driver of the Camry said they then backed up to get away, sideswiping a parked vehicle and hitting another before fleeing on foot. No one was injured.
The Camry sustained damage from bullets and was towed by the Auto Squad. Detectives from Major Crimes and the Mobile Crime Unit responded to the scene.
There are no arrests at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
