On March 18, 2022, Pittsburgh Police responded to a building on the 100 block of South Commons Street in Zone 1 for reports of a possible active shooter by a third party caller.
Officers from all zones also responded, as well as Pittsburgh Fire and EMS.
Out of precaution and as standard procedure, SWAT was called in to secure the area.
Shortly before 2 p.m., the area was declared safe and it was determined there was no actual threat.
The cause of the incident was possibly a misunderstanding over the phone between two callers.
Nearby Manchester Academy Charter School was placed on lockdown out of precaution during the incident.
