Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3 responded to the 1800 block of E. Carson Street for reports of a male brandishing a firearm and becoming confrontational with passersby on Carson at around 12:30 a.m. on May 1.
When police located the male in the 1700 block of E. Carson Street they activated their emergency lights. The male noticed officers and grabbed at his waistband as though he was holding a heavy object. Officers gave him several verbal commands to stop, but he did not comply. He fled on foot and officers chased him as he ran in between houses around Fox Way. When he emerged from in between houses on Sidney Street, officers gave him verbal commands to lay on the ground, to which he complied.
Police recovered a stolen firearm on his person.
Dayqual Allen, 19, of Pittsburgh was taken into custody.
He is charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Persons not to Possess, Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License, Disorderly Conduct, Flight to Avoid Apprehension, Trial or Punishment, and Public Drunkenness.
Allen is in the Allegheny County Jail.
