Pittsburgh Police and Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire were dispatched to the 400 block of Larimer Avenue for reports of a vehicle on fire just after 11 a.m. on May 2.
Responding units spoke with a complainant who told them a woman first attempted to break into her home and then tried to set fire to a car that was parked behind the residence.
The female suspect then fled the scene in a white Buick. A witness captured the plate number on her cell phone camera.
Just after 12 p.m. that same day, a Zone 5 officer spotted the suspect vehicle at Hamilton Avenue and Nadir Way and initiated a traffic stop. The registered owner of the vehicle was in the passenger seat. Police brought the victim and the witness to the scene, where the suspect was positively identified.
Chifawn Jackson, 34, of Pittsburgh was arrested and charged with Arson, Criminal Attempt Trespass, Criminal Attempt Burglary and Criminal Mischief.
Jackson was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
