EMS, Fire, and Police Responded to Downtown Collision

Summary:

Pittsburgh EMS, Fire, and Police responded for a vehicle vs. bus collision at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Grant Street around 11:30 p.m.

Three officers, who happened to be in the area, came upon the sedan engulfed in flames. The officers extricated an unconscious male from the burning vehicle.

Medics transported the driver in critical condition. The officers were not injured and they were evaluated by medics on scene.

A Port Authority bus was the second vehicle involved. Five passengers and the operator were on board at the time of the collision. Four passengers were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.

The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating.
