Police Respond for Shots Fired in Knoxville, Officer Struck in Vest by Gunfire

Summary:
Police responded to the 300 block of Brownsville Road for reports of a female shot in the leg at around 5:25 a.m.
Officers pursued a male on foot to the 400 block of Brownsville Road in Mount Oliver, where the suspect shot an officer in the vest. The officer was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital. He had also sustained a gunshot wound to the shoulder, but it is unclear where it occurred. The initial investigation shows no Pittsburgh Police officers fired their weapons.
The female was taken to the hospital.
County Homicide is investigating.
