Pittsburgh Police and the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office are alerting the public to an alleged scam perpetrated by a Richard Wayne Long.
Allegheny County Sheriff’s arrested Long, 48, in Georgia and are awaiting his extradition.
He is accused of targeting and bilking healthcare workers out of tens of thousands of dollars in a fraudulent scheme. Victims were told they failed to appear in court as a witness and were required to pay a fine or face jail time.
Long is charged with multiple felony counts of Theft by Deception and Theft by Unlawful Taking, as well as Impersonating a Public Servant.
Richard Long was reportedly in Pittsburgh from July 11 to July 20, 2022 and police are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by him to call detectives at (412) 255-2827.
