Two People Arrested, Charged with Attempted Homicide after Shooting at North Side Church

Summary:

Pittsburgh Police arrested two people in connection with a shooting at Destiny of Faith Church which injured six people on October 28.

Detectives from Pittsburgh Police Homicide Unit, Computer Crimes and the Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrested 19-year-old Shawn Davis and 16-year-old Hezekiah Nixon (Act 33 arrest).

Both face multiple charges, including Criminal Attempt Homicide, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault and firearms charges.

Nixon and Davis are in the Allegheny County Jail.

ORIGINAL STORY:

On October 28, Zone 1 officers responded to two ShotSpotter alerts in the area of Benton Avenue and Brighton Road. The alerts came just after noon; one with five rounds and the second with 15, for a total of 20 rounds.

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, and Pittsburgh Emergency Management & Homeland Security also responded to the scene.

There were six total victims; five of them sustained gunshot wounds.

First Responders found one victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the immediate area of Destiny of Faith Church. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.

Four other people were also shot. Three self-transported to local hospitals and another victim was found in the area of Langtry Street and transported by EMS.

A sixth person was also injured and treated at the hospital. It was later determined that he was not shot, but hurt while trying to escape.  

A funeral was taking place inside the church at the time of the shooting.

The Mobile Crime Unit responded and processed the scene.

The Violent Crimes Unit is handling the investigation, which is active and ongoing.
