At 3 a.m. Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3 pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of McKinley Street and Grogan Avenue for a possible DUI.
An officer exited his vehicle and spoke with the driver who provided his name and date of birth, but could not provide a driver's license. The suspect then fled from the stop, striking the officer in the leg.
Police followed the vehicle, which ultimately turned down a dead end in the 700 block of Margaret Street in Mount Oliver, hitting a tree.
The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS to be medically cleared before being transported to the ACJ.The officer was not seriously injured and was evaluated by medics on scene.
The driver had an outstanding warrant and a large amount of narcotics were recovered from inside the vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
