Pittsburgh Police responded to Market Square for a reported fight around 7:20 p.m.
When Zone 2 officers arrived, they observed juveniles in a dispute at the Five Guys fast food restaurant. While attempting to break up the fight, an officer suffered a hand injury. One juvenile was arrested on scene for assaulting the officer.
Pittsburgh medics transported the officer to a local hospital to be further evaluated.
While handling the incident in Market Square, police were notified of shots fired near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Coffey Way.
Police located evidence of a shooting, and did not located any victims. Police arrested one person at that scene.
The two incidents are not believed to be related.
The Mobile Crime Unit arrived to process the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
