On Dec. 21, 2022, Pittsburgh Police detectives arrested 27-year-old Alec Stefanovits on a warrant for criminal homicide.

He was in the ACJ on unrelated charges.

Stefanovits was wanted for the January 23, 2022 shooting that occurred in the 300 block of Minton Street.

One person was killed and another was injured.

Stefanovits is charged with Criminal Homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Pittsburgh Police responded to a Shotspotter alert for the 300 block of Minton Street around 5:40 a.m.

When Zone 6 officers arrived, they located an unresponsive female in the street. Responding officers rendered aid until medics arrived. Medics arrived and continued to give aid.

The victim was pronounced deceased by medics shortly after. Early into the investigation, police learned a vehicle struck the victim.

Police were notified of a shooting victim at the Sunoco in Esplen. The male victim received a gunshot wound to the head. He stated the shooting occurred in Sheraden. Medics transported the male to a local hospital in stable condition.

Mobile Crime Unit and Homicide detectives arrived to process the scene.

There were no other victims, and the investigation is ongoing.
