In March, police began investigating an incident involving fraudulent checks inside the City of Pittsburgh Finance Office. It was reported that two checks, totaling approximately $50, 424, were altered and fraudulently deposited.
An investigation revealed that Finance employee Gregory Fleming paid his real estate taxes with the altered checks, which were paid to a business entity owned by Fleming as a front to hide the money. Fleming was terminated from his position.
He turned himself in to police and is charged with two counts of Forgery and two counts of Theft by Deception.
He was booked into the Allegheny County Jail.
