Pittsburgh Public Safety Bureaus, Along with Partner Agencies, Respond to False Reports of Active Shooter at Schools in Oakland

Summary:

At approximately 10:18 a.m., all Public Safety Bureaus responded to Central Catholic for reports of an active shooter.

Police, Fire and EMS responded to the Oakland neighborhood as part of a collabortive and organized response.

Shortly afterward, there were also reports of an active shooter at Oakland Catholic. 

Central Catholic was placed on lockdown and Oakland Catholic was evacuated. 

A short time later, responders were notified that there was no evidence of an active shooter in the area. 

SWAT cleared both schools. 

There were no injuries reported during the incident and no indication there ever was an active shooter. 

First responders worked with school administrators to develop a plan to reunite students with their families. 

Responding agencies included Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire, Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, Emergency Management,  Allegheny County Sheriff's Office, Port Authority Police, Pennsylvania State Police, Carnegie Mellon University Police, University of Pittsburgh Police, the ATF and the FBI.
