Just after 9:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 6 responded to reports of a hit-and-run of a USPS vehicle in the 2800 block of Middletown Road.
When officers arrived, Pittsburgh EMS was attending to a male postal worker who was experiencing lower back and leg pain. He stated he was inside the postal vehicle when it was struck, causing him to fall out the side door to the ground. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The employee and a witness provided police with a description of a blue pickup truck. Broken glass and a side passenger mirror were found at the scene.
Utilizing City cameras, officers observed video of a vehicle of the same description leaving the collision area without a side mirror. They located the vehicle nearby and spoke with the driver who provided them with a statement.
The driver faces charges including Accidents Involving Damage to an Attended Vehicle. He will be charged via summons.
