Police Investigate Fatal Shooting in Zone 5

Summary:
Just before 4 a.m., Zone 5 officers responded to reports of a person shot at the intersection of Hamilton Avenue and Homewood Avenue.
Fire and EMS also responded to the scene. Crews located two male victims; one with a gunshot wound to the leg and another with a gunshot wound to the head.
Medics transported the male with a head wound in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The second victim was rushed into surgery for the wound to his leg.
VCU responded and the investigation is ongoing.
