Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS, Fire and Police responded to reports of an unresponsive boy on a playing field at Chartiers Avenue and Middletown Way just before 7:40 p.m.
When they arrived they found a 13-year-old boy who had been playing football and collapsed while running off the field.
He was transported to Children’s Hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced deceased.
Police processed the scene due to the boy’s young age and the fact that this was an undetermined death.
There are no further details to provide at this time.
The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office.
