Just before 5:40 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to a 2-alarm residential structure fire in the 400 block of Cedarhurst Street.
The first crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find an active fire with possible entrapment.
Firefighters accessed the residence and located two individuals on the second floor.
One patient was transported to the hospital in critical condition. A second person was pronounced deceased at the scene. There is no additional biographical information at this time.
The Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
