Pittsburgh Police Make Arrest in February North Side Homicide

Summary:
On August 8, 2023, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police homicide detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Demetrios Caligiuri for his involvement in the homicide of Rasul Aquil on February 5, 2023.
On August 10, 2023 detectives with the city of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, along with the U.S. Marshals Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force arrested Caligiuri in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
Caliguiri is charged with Criminal Homicide and Criminal Conspiracy.
He was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
Aaron Smith was previously arrested in connection with this case and is currently awaiting trial.
