Just after 12:45 p.m., Police from Zone 5 responded to the 900 block fo Freeport Road for reports of a juvenile male who had jumped over the firearms counter of Dunham's Sports, was threatening staff, and trying to get into the locked cabinets.
The arriving officer encountered a juvenile male with a red hoodie draped over his hands, facing an employee who was blocking the door. The male did not comply with the officer's verbal commands to show his hands.
Believing he was armed, police got him into a prone position on the floor, where he then complied and showed the officer his hands. He was then handcuffed and the officer got him back up on his feet.
The male was unarmed and told police he was trying to get an airsoft gun from behind the counter.
The juvenile was given a trespass warning and cited for criminal mischief.
He was released to the custody of a guardian and was told he was not allowed to come back to the store.
