At approximately 10:30 p.m., an officer working in Mellon Square Park heard shots fired in the vicinity of Smithfield Street and Sixth Avenue and ran on foot to the area.

The officer located a male victim on Smithfield Street at Strawberry Way with a gunshot wound to the chest . He performed CPR until medics arrived and transported him to the hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. 

A female victim found at the same location was shot in the lower extremities and transported by medics in stable condition.

Another male was located nearby with a gunshot wound to the foot. He was taken to the hospital stable.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating. The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at the scene.

Two males were taken for questioning at headquarters.

The investigation is ongoing.
