At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19, Police from Zone 3 responded to the intersection of Library Road and McNeilly Road in the Overbrook neighborhood for reports of a City of Pittsburgh refuse truck that had been involved in a collision.
Upon arrival officers observed the truck was lodged in a hill side through a billboard sign. The truck had been travelling on McNeilly Road heading towards Library Road.
An adult female driver travelling towards the city on Library Road was stuck by the truck. She suffered injuries to her leg, including a possible fracture. She was transported by Medic 2 in stable condition.
Another driver, an adult male, also had his vehicle struck by the refuse truck. He did not report any injuries.
The operator of the garbage truck stated he had back pain from the accident and was transported by Medic 47 for evaluation.
A third vehicle, parked and unoccupied, sustained damage from the resulting collision debris.
The scene was cleared and the City vehicle was retrieved without further incident.
Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire also responded.
