Pittsburgh Police from Zone 4 responded to a call for a male who reported he had been robbed at gunpoint by a male and female and had his handgun stolen in the 5900 block of Second Avenue before 6 p.m.
SWAT and EMS tactical medics were called to the scene on information that the suspects were possibly barricaded inside a residence on Second Avenue. A short time later, Penn Hills Police informed Pittsburgh Police that their officers had spotted the suspect vehicle in Penn Hills and began a pursuit.
A Penn Hills officer crashed his vehicle and Pittsburgh Police picked up the pursuit. The officer was not seriously injured.
The suspect vehicle eventually rolled over at the intersection of Verona Road and 3rd Street in Penn Hills. A male and female were taken into custody and one firearm was recovered.
The victim positively identified the two actors, who were transported to the hospital to be medically-cleared before being transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
Search warrants are being obtained for both the residence and the suspect vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
