Police, Fire, EMS Respond for Motorcycle Collision With Critical Injuries on 31st Street Bridge

Summary:

Just after 4:30 a.m., Police, EMS, and Fire were dispatched to the 31st Street Bridge for reports of a motorcycle that struck a concrete barrier on the 31st Street Bridge.

Firefighters from 32 Engine attended to the male driver who had suffered a head and arm injury. He told first responders that his female passenger was thrown over the bridge to the train tracks below near River Avenue.

Police and EMS located the female in critical condition with agonal breathing and signs of serious internal injuries. EMS used bolt cutters to open up a fence to remove her from the area of the tracks. Medic 4 transported her to the hospital in critical condition. Medic 6 transported the male in critical condition.

The Collision Investigation Unit responded to investigate.

Both the bridge and the train tracks were shut down during the investigation, but have since reopened.
