Just after 12:30 p.m., Pittsburgh Fire was dispatched to the 1700 block of Belleau Drive for reports of a residential structure fire with possible entrapment.
Arriving firefighters accessed the apartment residence, which had smoke throughout the building, and located two individuals on an upper floor. Both were quickly and safely evacuated down the truck ladder.
One of the residents, a 26-year-old pregnant female, was transported by Medic 6 to the hospital for evaluation. The other resident, an adult male, declined medic care.
A firefighter sustained smoke inhalation-related injuries during the course of performing his duties. He was transported by Medic 14 for treatment. He has since been released.
The Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the fire.
