Police, Fire, and EMS Respond to Shooting in South Side

Summary:
Just after 2:30 a.m., Pittsburgh Police officers assigned to the South Side Entertainment District heard several gunshots fired from the intersection of E. Carson Street and S. 17th Street.
Arriving officers located the victim, a male in his early 30’s, in the intersection with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was conscious, alert, and able to speak with officers. Officers applied a chest seal to the victim and requested Medics respond.
Medic 5 transported the victim in serious but stable condition.
Officers located the crime scene nearby and the Mobile Crime Unit responded to collect and process the evidence.
Fire also responded the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
