At 7:31 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to a 3-alarm highrise fire at a nine-storey apartment building in the 2400 block of Perrysville Avenue.
The fire originated in the kitchen of an eighth floor suite and was mainly contained to that apartment. The resident was safely evacuated from the building, while residents on the other floors sheltered in place.
The fire was extinguished quickly and declared under control at 8:03 a.m., as firefighters worked to move the smoke out of the building. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters.
The Fire Investigation Unit will investigate the cause of the fire.
