Police Respond to Robbery, Aggravated Assault in Shadyside

Summary:
At approximately 12:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police responded to the 300 block of Morewood Avenue for reports of an armed robbery.
Arriving officers located a male victim in his early-20’s on the sidewalk.
The victim had been walking home when a male actor suddenly approached and demanded he surrender his valuables, firing several gunshots into the air in the process. After the victim complied, the actor pistol whipped him over the head.
The victim sustained facial lacerations and a potential head injury. He was transported by medics in stable condition for evaluation.
Zone 4 detectives are continuing the investigation.
