Police, Fire, EMS Respond for Vehicle into Structure in Knoxville

Summary:

At 8:23 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the 200 block of Reifert Street for a vehicle into a structure. 

Responding Pittsburgh Fire units pulled a male driver from the vehicle, which had caught fire as a result of the crash. Medics transported him to the hospital in stable condition.

No one inside the home was injured. The female who occupies the main floor suite is displaced, but left to stay with family members. 

The male in the second floor suite was not injured and is safe, but firefighters are working to get him out of the house because the staircase is impassable. The Red Cross will be assisting him with temporary accommodations.

The Department of Permits. Licenses, and Inspections (PLI) has been called to examine the integrity of the structure.

The cause of the crash is being investigated as a probable drug overdose.
