Pittsburgh Police Investigating Vehicle Theft in Carrick

Date: December 8, 2023
Incident Type: Vehicle Theft
Location: Zone 3
Summary:

Just before 5:00 p.m., on December 7, Pittsburgh Police from Zone 3 responded to the 200 block of Sprucewood Street for reports of a vehicle theft.

Arriving officers located an Amazon delivery driver who stated he had left his vehicle temporarily parked--with the engine running/keys in the ignition--on the side of the street while he delivered a package to a nearby porch. When he turned around he saw his vehicle heading down Sprucewood towards Leolyn Street.

The driver described an adult male who was in the vicinity at the time of the theft.

After taking an initial statement, officers proceeded to look for the vehicle. Very quickly, at approximately 5:05 p.m., it was located on Brownsville Road near the intersection with Copperfield Avenue. It was recovered unoccupied and left running, with the actor having already fled.

The delivery driver was reunited with the vehicle, where he indicated it did not appear that anything was stolen from inside. He then continued with the route.

Zone 3 detectives are continuing the investigation, which is ongoing.
