Pittsburgh Police Recover a Total of Eight Illegal Firearms in Two Zones Over Past Four Days

Pittsburgh Police recovered a total of eight firearms between Thursday December 7 and Sunday, December 10, 2023.

On Sunday, Zone 6 officers responded to a nine-round ShotSpotter alert near the lower baseball field at Herschel Park. Witnesses provided information that two individuals in black hoodies got into a grey car around the time the shots were fired.  

While on scene, officers heard an additional two shots coming from the west and located a vehicle with three juveniles inside.

Two firearms were recovered after police obtained a search warrant for the vehicle. The juveniles were released to the custody of their parents.

There were no injuries in this incident.

In Zone 5, three separate traffic stops and an investigation into suspicious activity resulted in the recovery of six firearms. One firearm was stolen, the others were in the possession of those who did not have licenses to carry or had invalid licenses.

These incidents resulted in four adult arrests and applications for two adult arrest warrants.
