Pittsburgh Police officers from Zone 1 responded to a 911 call for a body spotted by the railroad tracks at Anderson Street near N. Canal Street just before 8:15 p.m.
When they arrived on scene they found an unresponsive adult male in his 40's or 50's. Medics declared the male deceased at the scene.
Detectives from Homicide and the Mobile Crime Unit processed the scene.
The cause and manner of death are undetermined at this time. That information will be released by the Medical Examiner's Office.
Police are investigating.
