Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1, conducting regular rounds on the North Side, spotted a stolen vehicle outside a residence on the 3200 block of Lecky Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.
When officers approached the residence about the vehicle, a male began threatening officers from a window and forced the homeowner out of the residence before barricading himself inside.
Upon investigation, police discovered the male, who is in his early 60’s, is wanted on a felony warrant out of Florida. Officers observed the suspect at a second floor rear window holding a handgun.
SWAT was called in to secure the neighborhood and establish negotiations with the suspect. Fire and EMS were on scene and the County also provided tactical support.
After more than two hours of sporadic verbal contact with the suspect, who refused to surrender, SWAT deployed flash bang devices and gas canisters with negative results. Just before 1:30 a.m. the suspect surrendered to police.
He will be transported to Allegheny County Jail and then extradited to Florida. He faces possible charges in Pennsylvania for receiving stolen property.
The investigation continues.
UPDATE 2: 11:01 a.m. 10/20/19 Police arrested Raymond James Camp, 61, on felony arrest warrants out of Florida. Additional charges are pending.
UPDATE: 9:20 a.m. 10/20/19 Prior to being to taken to Allegheny County Jail, the suspect was transported to Allegheny General Hospital for observation. Once he is cleared medically he will be transported to ACJ.
