Pittsburgh Bureau of Police officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 300 block of Miller Street around 12:25 p.m.
When Zone 2 officers arrived, they found a possible hostage situation with a male and female in a locked room, and a reported firearm. SWAT was called and hostage negotiators arrived.
Around 1:20 p.m., the male and female agreed to leave the room. They exited and were both detained for questioning. A gun was recovered.
No one was injured.
Police are investigating. It was initially unclear which person took the other person hostage. If charges are filed, the Blotter will be updated.
UPDATE: Kevin Lamont Reed, 57 of Bellefonte has been charged with unlawful restraint, simple assault, false imprisonment and a gun charge.
