Pittsburgh Bureaus of EMS, Fire and Police responded to a 9-1-1 call for a structure fire on the 1600 block of Dagmar Avenue around 7:40 a.m.
Upon arrival, first responders were met by a male resident who stated he had arrived home from work and smelled smoke. The male said he could not enter far into the residence due to flames on the lower level, but he was able to retrieve the dog.
Firefighters extinguished the flames and upon gaining access to the second floor they found a deceased female.
The Fire Investigation Unit will determine the cause of the fire.
The investigation continues.
