Pittsburgh Bureau of Police officers from Zones 2 and 4 responded to a ShotSpotter alert of shots fired in the 2100 block of Watson Street just before 1:00 a.m.
When officers arrived on scene they heard noises coming from a residence on that block and observed someone inside.
Officers then set up a perimeter and began calling out to the occupant. A male responded vocally to officers, but then turned up music and refused to exit the residence.
At this point, the male called 911 and reported that he was “under siege.” The operator was able to relay messages to him from officers on-scene imploring the male to exit the residence.
The male surrendered by walking out of the home. He was taken to Western Psychiatric for a mental health evaluation.
