Statement on Overnight Shootings

Summary:

Pittsburgh Bureau of Police officers responded to several shootings in the early morning hours of May 24. Those calls included:

 

Shots fired in the 700 block East Warrington Avenue just after 1:15 a.m. No victims.

Shots fired in the 800 block of Loyal Way just before 2:30 a.m. Two male victims, both transported in stable condition.

Shots fired the 900 block Liberty Avenue just before 2:45 a.m. One male victim, treated on scene by EMS and transported in stable condition.

Shots fired near the intersection of S. 27th Street and Jane Street around 3 a.m. One female victim taken by private means to a local hospital.

 

Regarding the investigations:

-- The female victim who was taken by private means to the hospital died. Police are investigating her death as a homicide.

-- Police have arrested Andre Jamal Walker, 24, in the Liberty Avenue shooting on charges of criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault and receiving stolen property.

-- Police do not believe these shootings are connected. All four cases are being actively investigated.
