Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1 responded to a 911 call for a male shot in the 500 block of Mount Pleasant Road just before 4:25 p.m.
When they arrived on scene, they found a juvenile male in an upstairs bedroom of a residence with a gunshot wound to the torso.
Officers rendered aid on scene using hemostatic dressing to pack the wound. The victim was then transported by EMS to the hospital in serious condition.
VCU detectives interviewed witnesses who had been inside the residence at the time.
The Crime Scene Unit processed the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
