UPDATE: Pittsburgh Police Officers Injured in Collision During Security Detail

Date: July 30, 2020
Incident Type: Collision
Location: White Oak PA
Summary:

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. Exact location is Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA, not Route 837 as originally stated.

Two Pittsburgh Police motorcycle officers with the Special Deployment Division were involved in a collision on Lincoln Way in White Oak, PA just before 11:40 a.m.

The officers were part of a security detail protecting Vice President Mike Pence’s motorcade while the Vice President was visiting the area. Both officers were treated in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision is being investigated.

Pittsburgh Public Safety would like to thank Vice President Pence and members of the United States Secret Service for the concern and attention they showed the two injured officers.

Vice President Pence stopped to tend to the officers personally; a gesture that was greatly appreciated by the officers themselves, and by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
