Police Respond to Collision that Critically Injures Child

Summary:

Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5, EMS, and Fire responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 8500 block of Frankstown Road just after midnight.

When responding officers arrived on scene they found an outbound and an inbound vehicle had collided almost head on. The driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot, leaving a four-year-old girl in the vehicle. 

The child was transported to the hospital by EMS in critical, but stable condition. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. 

The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating. Additional charges are expected.
