Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1 responded to a Shotspotter alert for shots fired in the 1100 block of Bidwell Street just before 6:20 p.m.
When responding officers arrived on scene they spoke with two EMT's from the Pittsburgh Bureau of EMS whose medic unit was parked around the corner on Sheffield Street. They told police they were inside an apartment building on a call when they heard gunshots outside.
Their medic unit was struck with two rounds. No one was inside the vehicle at the time.
The Crime Scene Unit arrived to process evidence at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
