Pittsburgh Police monitored a planned protest of about 40 people at the site of the Columbus Statue in Schenley Park, which began at approximately 6 p.m.
At one point during the demonstration, a small group of protesters began painting the tarpaulin that was draped over the statue on the weekend.
Uniformed officers spoke with the group to get them to cease their actions and they were compliant. No arrests were made.
The protest ended peacefully at 7:30 p.m.
Police will continue to monitor the area with directed patrols and investigate any vandalism.
