Pittsburgh Police from Zone 6 responded for a domestic incident in the 90 block of Dawn Avenue just after 6 a.m.
When they arrived on scene they were met by a female who told them an ex-partner had showed up at her residence, had become violent, and was threatening suicide.
At around 7:15 SWAT was called in as the male had barricaded himself inside and was refusing to come out. Negotiators were in intermittent contact with him, but he continually refused to leave the residence.
Tactical means were utilized to encourage the male to surrender. Police eventually took the male into custody. He was transported to the hospital to be cleared medically before being taken to jail.
The female was transported by medics to be evaluated at the hospital.
