Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 responded to a Shotspotter alert while on regular patrol near the 2100 block of Centre Avenue just before 4 p.m.
Officers, flagged down by a security guard, were directed to a male victim on the street with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Officers applied two tourniquets in an effort to stem the heavy bleeding. Medics transported the victim to the hospital in stable condition.
The Crime Scene Unit arrived to process evidence.
Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are investigating.
